Beyond The Scope, a new podcast by the Digital Pathology Association, focuses on hot topics in digital pathology. Co-hosts Dr. Giovanni Lujan (OSUWMC) and Dr. David Tulman (Instapath) converse with key opinion leaders in an engaging format discussing all of the new research, technology, and workflows emerging in digital pathology. Dr. Chris Garcia is a pathologist and serves as the Medical Director in the division of computational pathology and artificial intelligence at the Mayo Clinic. He joins the show for a broad reaching conversation about the current state of digital pathology and what the future holds for the industry. Dr. Garcia shares his journey from academia and industry and how his experience led to a career focused on pathology informatics. We touch on the challenges for a large organization like Mayo to recruit individuals with diverse skill sets seeking to advance the industry. Additional topics include projects related to pathology data and LLM development and a discussion on how to engage new users with novel pathology technology.
